The Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM) is searching for an Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment on the Macon, Georgia campus. Responsibilities
This Associate Director (AD) of Admissions and Enrollment will provide leadership for the day-to-day operations of the Office of Admissions in the School of Medicine, which extends to our campuses in Savannah, Columbus, Valdosta, and a Carrollton Campus to follow within two years. The AD will also act as a contact with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). In addition, the AD will maintain a statewide presence by leading regular recruiting visits within the twenty (20) undergraduate institutions in Georgia that account for 80-90% of our matriculants into the MD program and the other graduate programs in the School of medicine (Master of Science in Preclinical Sciences, PhD in Rural Health Sciences, PhD in Biomedical Sciences, and Master of Family Therapy). This position will have primary responsibility along with the Associate Dean of Admission for our program in development (PRU-GAP, Physicians for Rural and Underserved Georgia) that will be a partnership between the School of Medicine and several feeder institutions that send rural students to our MD Program. This initiative is essential for the School of Medicine to counter the competition we are receiving from the Medical College of Georgia and the newly independent University of Georgia School of Medicine. The AD will also regularly review policies and procedures with the Associate Dean and Senior Associate Dean as part of our Continuing Quality Improvement (CQI) activities and collaborate with the Director of Pathways, Programs, and Events to further the mission of the School of Medicine to serve rural, medically underserved areas of the State of Georgia. Qualifications
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university is required, two years of leadership/service experience in a committee/organization in school, college or business or professional admissions/enrollment management are required. This should include proficiency in the use of desktop and laptop computers and tablets in the use of common applications and those specific to the School of Medicine and Mercer University. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the university's carrier. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team. Excellent oral and written skills in the English Language. Ability to compose and give oral presentations to groups of applicants and other groups within and outside the School of Medicine. Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds (recruitment materials) for 10-20 minutes and to load and unload them from vehicles during events on and off campus. Ability to drive a car independently (4-6 hours per day); valid Georgia Driver’s License required. Ability to use applicant management databases such as MDApply (AMCAS) and Slate and other databases used by various programs in the School of Medicine. Ability to independently format and post approved messages to webpages, blogs, social media in collaboration with Marketing in the School of Medicine. Background Check Contingencies
