Motor Equipment Operator

Overview Under supervision, operates light and medium automotive equipment and other motor equipment not requiring special skills; performs tasks focused on maintaining the cleanliness of outdoor recreational areas and does related work as required.
Responsibilities
Operates passenger cars, station wagons, half-ton pickup trucks, three-quarter-ton panel trucks, or other types of trucks having a rated capacity of less than five tons.
Operates various types of motorized grass and weed cutters which carry the operator.
Loads and unloads trucks and transports men, material, and equipment to and from work.
Performs manual work when not operating vehicles.
Makes adjustments and minor repairs to motor equipment, changes tires, oil, and battery.
Performs work such as cleaning, sweeping, and mopping floors of park buildings; loading rubbish, manure, and dirt onto trucks; carrying pipe and other heavy equipment and materials.
Rakes leaves, picks up papers, and refuses.
Shovels snow, sweeps sidewalks, cuts grass, lines fields, and does related work as required.
Must be able to work any assigned shift or any assigned work location.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications
One (1) year of experience is required in related work.
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment physical exam.
Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds.
Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver's License.
Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting, bending, and operating machinery.
Qualifications Acquired On The Job
Ability to identify issues in the park environment and devise practical solutions.
Skills in using tools and equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and other maintenance machinery.
