Plumbing Service Manager The Plumbing Service Manager is responsible for planning and managing the safe and efficient installation, repair and servicing of plumbing systems in new construction, commercial and/or residential settings. Utilizes human resources effectively to manage workload and job costs, achieve production and margin objectives and provide plumbing services to customers and contractors.

Responsibilities

Manages and develops the plumbing staff, including hiring, terminating, disciplining, scheduling, setting priorities, conducting meetings, counseling, evaluating performance, and directing assignments.

Establishes and maintains departmental operating policies, procedures, and budgets.

Interfaces with builders, contractors, homeowners, architects, building inspectors, and project managers to identify service needs and maintain good customer relations.

Evaluates workload and schedules installation and service work to maximize profits.

Resolves customer issues and complaints to ensure satisfaction.

Communicates regularly with plumbing staff to assist in providing estimates, resolving problems, and closing sales.

Ensures materials and equipment are ordered and dispensed for scheduled jobs; oversees inventory control.

Sets up pricing structures; reviews bid proposals and discusses bids with estimator, as needed.

Drives to job sites to monitor production, efficiency, and quality control.

Generates reports and measures departmental operations, inventory, tools, and vehicles; reviews with management.

Instructs crews on proper use of materials and quality workmanship.

Stays in touch with service technicians and installation crews to assist with unexpected needs.

Reviews payroll records to ensure technicians are paid properly.

Assists dispatching operation to ensure appropriate technician selection for type of service.

May conduct job site surveys; checks that each job is complete and documentation is finished.

May manage plumbing inspections, oversee permitting, and arrange for bonds.

May assist in collecting past due accounts receivable.

May complete accident and property damage forms and investigate claims.

Ensures employees have proper tools and maintenance.

Evaluates fleet and equipment for proper functioning and monitors preventive maintenance of vehicles.

Provides on‑the‑job training and support to employees.

Oversees facility and equipment maintenance, ensuring assets are protected.

May manage drain service operations, fleet department, or hold Master Plumber licensure for the service center.

Coordinates work with subcontractors as needed.

Maintains a clean and safe work area and enforces all safety and company rules.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED equivalent with 6‑8 years of journeyman‑level plumbing experience.

Related education or advanced training may be substituted.

Unrestricted Journeyman license and knowledge of local and national plumbing code preferred.

Valid driver’s license required.

Working knowledge of general industry standards and strong supervisory, computer, and mathematical skills.

Strong communication and human relations skills.
