The mission of Yale’s Wu Tsai Institute (WTI) is to understand human cognition and explore human potential by sparking interdisciplinary inquiry. In this search, WTI invites exceptional candidates using interdisciplinary approaches to address questions of neurodevelopment and plasticity to apply for an endowed faculty position, at the (tenured) Associate or Full Professor rank, to begin July 2026 or later. There is one opening available. We seek applicants whose research program has made, or shows promise to make, breakthroughs in our understanding of fundamental processes in neuroscience via the implementation of new technologies, new methodologies in imaging, new development of probes, new mathematical or computational frameworks, or new concepts. Applicants should have a background in neuroscience, biology, biomedical engineering, physics, chemistry, or related field. Successful candidates will receive a tenure-track or tenured appointment in one or more departments in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, School of Engineering and Applied Science, and/or School of Medicine. WTI is dedicated to hiring, mentoring, and advocating for colleagues who foster excellence in our community through their research, teaching, mentoring, and service. We are eager to accommodate the needs of families and welcome applications from dual-career couples to this search or a combination of Yale searches. Background: WTI was founded in 2021 by a historic gift from Joe Tsai and Clara Wu Tsai to reveal fundamental truths about the mind through the integrated study of the brain. Based at 100 College Street in New Haven, with research linkages across Yale campuses, WTI rests on three pillars that coordinate its research activities: the Center for Neurodevelopment and Plasticity, the Center for Neurocognition and Behavior, and the Center for Neurocomputation and Machine Intelligence. Qualifications Applicants must have a PhD (or equivalent) at time of hire and hold a research faculty position or equivalent at a level of seniority appropriate for tenure at the time of the application. Current Yale scientists are not eligible for this position. Application Instructions WTI seeks outstanding applicants who advance understanding of cognition across scales, species, and methods from a broad range of disciplines. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis for alignment with the Center for Neurodevelopment and Plasticity. Relevant fields in the past have included: molecular neuroscience cellular neuroscience developmental biology systems neuroscience optical physics and imaging protein chemistry and probe development applied math and modeling Review of applications in these areas will begin November 1 and continue until position(s) are filled. Applicants will be informed about the status of applications by the end of March. Applicants must submit the following materials for full consideration: Application Form – Indicate your desired level of tenured appointment (Associate, Professor) and broad area(s) of research. Research Contributions and Plans – Describe your most significant scientific discoveries and accomplishments to date and the focus and goals of your future research program in a supportive environment like WTI; address how this vision aligns with the mission of WTI to understand cognition. (4 pages max) Teaching, Mentoring, and Leadership – Describe your philosophy, experience, and plans for teaching, mentoring, and leadership and how you have contributed to the improvement of your fields and/or institution and fostered productive, fair, and welcoming research and learning environments.
