Entry-Level Project Safety Coordinator – Southern California – Southern Pacific Region McCarthy Building Companies is America’s premier, 100% employee-owned commercial construction company. Monitor safety efforts of subcontractors and McCarthy employees, conduct project safety Tool Box meetings weekly, and enforce safety guidelines using the disciplinary policy. Oversee issuance of new hire safety documents and lead the immersion of new employees and subcontractors into the McCarthy safety culture. Coordinate with project supervision to ensure personal protective equipment and safety materials are available, safety documents are posted on-site, and first aid supplies are maintained. Maintain the project OSHA 300 log of injuries/illnesses, investigate all reports, and coordinate corrective measures. Conduct safety/health inspections at least twice per month, coordinating responses and compliance reports with McCarthy’s insurance company. Record and forward copies of all safety-related meetings, programs, citations, and related materials to the division safety director. Qualifications
Prior internship experience supporting safety efforts on large healthcare or commercial projects is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field. CHST certification. Bilingual (English–Spanish) preferred. Ability to work with all construction groups – management, owners, trades and subcontractors. Ability to administer safety orientations, oversee the substance abuse program, investigate/report on injuries/illnesses/near misses, and perform other safety functions on-site. Excellent communication, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. For Southern California locations only, the salary for this position is: $88,000. This does not include possible bonus and other benefits which can impact total compensation. Compensation offered may vary based on work location, experience, qualifications, specialty, training, and market and business considerations, among other factors.
