Position Details Note:
This position is contingent upon contract award and will be located onsite in the southeast, southwest, or central United States. Travel may be required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests.
Examine and analyze body fluids and cells; match blood for transfusions.
Maintain blood products per AABB requirements.
Analyze chemical content of fluids and test for drug levels in blood.
Prepare specimens, count cells, and identify abnormal cells in blood and body fluids.
Analyze test results and communicate findings to physicians.
Culture body fluids and tissues to detect microorganisms.
Test samples for chemical content and concentrations, such as glucose and cholesterol.
Evaluate and develop testing procedures to ensure accuracy.
Use safety precautions to handle biohazardous materials.
Order supplies and maintain a safe, clean work environment.
Keep patient records, maintain equipment, and may oversee lab operations.
Provide supervision or act as Lab Lead, guiding other technologists.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Completed a Medical Technology training program leading to a Bachelor's Degree.
Certified by AMT, ASCP, or NCA.
Current BLS certification.
At least 5 years of experience as a Medical Technologist.
At least 1 year in a Lead role.
Recent clinical experience in direct patient care (minimum 6 of last 12 months).
Detail-oriented, organized, with excellent communication skills.
Proficient in MS Office and computer skills.
Flexible and adaptable to shift changes and operational needs.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
Work primarily in an office environment.
Prolonged sitting and standing.
