Join to apply for the Lab Technician role at On.Energy. We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Lab Technician to support testing, validation, and quality control of components used in our battery energy storage systems and power infrastructure. This role involves working closely with engineers to assemble, test, and document lab-scale and field-deployable systems and prototypes. Ideal candidates are technically proficient, safety-conscious, and comfortable working with electrical and mechanical equipment in a fast-paced R&D and product development environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support testing of electrical and mechanical components, including batteries, inverters, switchgear, and control systems
Perform routine lab duties such as equipment setup, calibration, wiring, and assembly
Record test data, maintain logs, and report anomalies to engineering team
Assist in the development and refinement of testing procedures and protocols
Maintain lab safety standards and ensure tools and equipment are in working order
Handle hazardous materials (e.g., lithium-ion batteries) in accordance with safety procedures
Support prototype builds and contribute to the assembly and validation of pilot systems
Collaborate with engineering and quality control to ensure documentation accuracy
Requirements
Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
1–3 years of experience in a laboratory, electrical testing, or field technician role
Comfortable using multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, data acquisition systems, and hand tools
Understanding of basic electrical systems and safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E)
Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
Basic knowledge of batteries, power systems, or control equipment is a plus
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform hands-on technical work
English required; Spanish is a plus
Preferred Attributes
Experience in energy storage, electronics, or industrial automation
Familiarity with lab software or SCADA/PLC interfaces
Knowledge of testing standards (UL, IEEE, IEC)
