Job Summary The Occupational Therapist evaluates, administers, and directs the administration of therapeutic procedures utilized in rehabilitation medicine as prescribed by a referring physician. They establish goals for occupational therapy and re-assess the patient's progress at regular intervals, supporting findings with written documentation. The therapist collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes while respecting patient privacy and rights.

Essential Functions

Communicates effectively with peers, staff, physicians, leaders, and administration.

Provides timely and appropriate information to the lead staff, supervisor, or manager.

Maintains a safe, clean, and organized environment for patients and staff.

Documents all procedures clearly, legibly, and accurately.

Demonstrates competencies relevant to all patient populations served.

Performs comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and documents findings.

Develops detailed, precise, and well-documented treatment plans for use by other OT staff.

Administers safe and effective treatments, ensuring proper documentation.

Re-assesses and adjusts the care plan as needed within appropriate timeframes.

Operates treatment equipment safely.

Establishes priorities to maximize productivity.

Ensures billing is accurately reflected in documentation.

Participates in orientation and mentoring of new staff and students.

Collects data for performance improvement initiatives.

Participates in process improvement efforts.

Performs additional duties as assigned, adhering to policies and standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited OT program required.

Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy preferred.

2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong understanding of therapeutic procedures and rehabilitation medicine.

Ability to evaluate patients and establish appropriate goals.

Proficient in documenting patient progress and outcomes.

Teamwork skills to collaborate with healthcare professionals.

Knowledge of patient privacy laws and rights.

Expertise in rehabilitation techniques and adaptive equipment.

Ability to analyze and modify treatment plans based on patient progress.

Excellent communication skills.

Compassionate attitude to support patient recovery.

Licenses and Certifications

Valid State-specific OT license required.

Current BLS certification preferred.
