Regional Operational Technology Engineer

The Regional Operational Technology Engineer will support the Regional Manufacturing Operational Technology Department and help ensure cybersecurity protection, alarm management, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and other control system activities across DCS and PLC systems (Foxboro, DeltaV, ABB, Triconex). The role includes leadership and innovation to implement cybersecurity policies, patching, and system updates consistently, along with regular hardware and software maintenance and troubleshooting. Collaboration with process control engineers and other team members is essential to ensure safe and efficient operation. Responsibilities

Document system architecture, develop network documentation and drawings, and maintain equipment inventories. Implement corporate cybersecurity standards for DCS, PLC and SIS networks. Develop and maintain a rolling 5-year upgrade plan and assist sites with budget planning to implement this plan. Maintain knowledge of process hazards and safeguards related to process control, safety instrumented functions, alarms, and operator response. Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware and software in DCS, PLC, and SIS systems; install current updates. Configure network switches and ensure instrumented systems are properly used as Independent Protection Layers (IPLs). Develop DCS, PLC and SIS scope documents for instrumented IPLs and oversee IPL verifications as required. Be available for required travel to multiple sites and, if needed, work overtime to meet production objectives. Collaborate with team members of diverse backgrounds and perspectives; assist others in achieving company goals; participate in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives and training programs. Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, with 5+ years of operations/process control experience in the petrochemical or refining industry, or 10+ years of experience in systems engineering or control systems. Experience with managed ethernet switches and virtualization; ability to secure and protect servers and networks from cyber-attacks; strong data manipulation and analysis skills. Strong organizational skills, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities. GICSP/CISSP or equivalent; firewall management and support; experience supporting production virtual environments is a plus. Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card.
