DOT&PF State Equipment Fleet is looking for a Mechanic, Automotive, Advanced Journey/Lead to help us Keep Alaska Moving! Overview
What you will be doing Professionally maintain all heavy-duty and light-duty equipment and vehicles associated with the construction and maintenance of secondary roads, rural airports and other user agency vehicles being operated in the area. Diagnose and repair unusual or complex equipment problems using a variety of techniques; perform routine and specialized repair and maintenance on a range of heavy equipment. Diagnose, maintain, repair and modify transmissions, drive trains, suspension, engine and emission systems, fuel injection, hydraulic systems, and brakes including air and electrical for light and heavy-duty equipment. This position is in the Klawock shop located at 100 Airport Road, Klawock, AK. Travel in small planes to remote locations is possible and may require day trips or overnight stays. DOT&PF provides a challenging and rewarding environment across Alaska’s diverse terrain and weather. Roles involve maintaining and improving roads, bridges, airports, ports, and public facilities in both remote and urban settings, with emphasis on safety and environmental responsibility. Knowledge of machines and tools, including design, use, repair, and maintenance. Flexibility:

Knowledge of motor vehicle engines, parts, and systems, including design, repair, and maintenance. Self-Management:
Sets goals, works with initiative, minimal supervision, and demonstrates responsible behavior. A Class A CDL is required for this position. A conditional hire may be given to obtain a Class A CDL within 120 days of hire and sign an agreement as a condition of employment.
