Position Overview The staff nurse, supervised by the PAT/Pre-op/PACU Coordinator, provides nursing care in Pre-Op and PACU. Responsibilities include planning and implementing patient care, ensuring standards are met, and providing leadership and continuity of care from pre-op through post-op follow-up.

Key Responsibilities

Verify patient identity and review preoperative orders.

Assess patient understanding, obtain consent, and perform physical and emotional assessments.

Initiate IV therapy, administer preoperative medications, and document care.

Maintain patient privacy, comfort, and safety.

Coordinate patient flow, complete accurate records, and implement physician orders.

Manage critical care aspects for post-operative patients, assist in procedures, and control drug inventories.

Ensure a clean and organized work environment.

Handle bio-hazard waste properly and prepare for next-day surgeries.

Respond to emergencies promptly and work effectively as part of a team.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a current Tennessee license.

Registered Nurse licensure.

Current BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications within six months of hire.

Preferably one year of experience in PACU or critical care.

Knowledge of modern nursing concepts and emergency procedures.
