GENERAL PURPOSE Performs CT exams by following and verifying referring providers' orders and remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences department and all governing bodies. This position requires training as well as regular direct supervision or guidance from a more senior technologist. This generally involves orientation to the Departments infrastructure, policies, protocols, workflows, procedures and routines. This position is responsible for performing I-stats, pregnancy tests, starting IVs, scanning patients in a safe and efficient manner, Injecting IV contrast, preparing oral contrast, completing all associated paper and computer work, and discharging the patient from the CT department with appropriate post CT instructions. Identifies patient service requirements. Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed. Prepares patient for radiological/CT procedures by positioning patient. Adjusts immobilization devices, moves equipment into specified position, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors. Performs procedures by following and verifying referring provider’s orders. Applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures. Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them, with other pertinent patient information, for timely interpretation. Prepares and maintains accurate documentation. Maintains production and quality of CT images by following established standards, orders, protocols and procedures. Practices radiation protection techniques (ALARA) using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors and automatic exposure controls. Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements. Troubleshoots and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. Adheres to safety policies. May train new employees or lead day-to-day work activities. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Education & Experience

Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology required Or equivalent combination of education and experience Certifications & Licenses
