Overview
Patient Care Technician - Earn to Learn Program (Float Pool) – Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, Portland, Oregon. Full-time position with year-round availability. Roles include day and night shifts. Night shift orientation may occur on day shift. Every other weekend availability required. Program overview: Providence pays for CNA training/courses while you work as a Patient Care Technician (PCT). After obtaining a CNA license, you will transition to a full-time CNA at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center and remain in that role for at least one year. Responsibilities
1:1 patient observation for suicide prevention, elopement, or prevention of medical device dislodgement Hygiene care: bathing, oral care, toileting, incontinence care Bladder scanning Assist with walking and mobility Vital signs: temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation Assist with feeding Participate in Basic Life Support (BLS) interventions Post-licensing CNA duties (after licensing): blood glucose monitoring, removal of urinary catheter, removal of peripheral IV catheter, orthostatic BP, specimen collection (sputum, stool, urine), indwelling catheter care, compression stockings Program Details
4-6 weeks orientation with PSVMC CNA/PCT mentor; on-the-job training to prepare for CNA licensure Hours and scheduling: full-time with fixed shifts; no scheduling flexibility; downtime may be scheduled as PCT to fulfill hours Tuition and fees for CNA instruction are paid by Providence Upon CNA licensure, transition to full-time CNA role and remain for at least one year Unit Experience and Opportunities
Training to support 10 units: Medical A, Medical B, Medical C, Cardiology A, Cardiology B, Surgical, Orthopedics, Neurovascular, Oncology, and Clinical Decision Unit. Opportunities to cross-train to Behavioral Health and Emergency Department within scope of practice after gaining experience. Incentives
Evening shift differential – $2.25 per hour Night shift differential – $4.00 per hour Qualifications
Required : National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire. Preferred : Medical Terminology coursework or successful completion of hospital Medical Terminology test within 90 days of hire; 6 months healthcare experience. Benefits and About Providence
