About the Position: This position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center in Ft. Sam Houston, TX. Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) is the United States Army's premier medical institution. Located on Fort Sam Houston, BAMC is a 425-bed academic medical center, and is the Department of Defense's largest facility and only Level 1 trauma center. BAMC is also home to the Center for the Intrepid, an outpatient rehabilitation facility. The center is composed of ten separate organizations, including community medical clinics, centered around the Army's largest in-patient hospital. BAMC is staffed by more than 8,000 soldiers, airmen, sailors, civilians, and contractors, providing care to wounded service members and the San Antonio community at large. Brooke Army Medical Center has a history which dates back to 1879 when the first Post Hospital opened as a small medical dispensary located in a single-story wooden building. In 1886, the first permanent hospital was built. In 1908, an 84-bed Station Hospital was constructed on the west side of the post. Provide anesthesia services to all categories and types of patients requiring surgical or procedural intervention. Administer appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic nerve blocks in the treatment of acute and chronic pain. Oversee activity of recovery room and administer appropriate drug and respiratory therapy in the recovery room setting. Instruct nurse anesthesia students, physicians, interns, and physicians rotating through the Anesthesiology Service in the proper administration of anesthesia. Perform the most advanced diagnostic and treatment procedures. Responsible for making treatment recommendations for the full treatment regimen involving knowledge of new techniques. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Basic Requirement For Physician (Anesthesiology) Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education or equivalent accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign medical degrees must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to U.S. accredited schools. Evidence of equivalency may be demonstrated by permanent certification by ECFMG, fifth pathway, or USMLE. Attach transcripts and/or proof of foreign equivalency with your application package. Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, DC, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory. Attach a copy of your license/registration with your application package. Graduate Training:
After obtaining a medical degree, a candidate must have at least one year of supervised clinical experience (internship or first year of residency) in an accredited program. Attach proof of graduate training program completion with your application package.
