About The General Oncology Unit

Our general oncology nursing and medical assistant teams provide expert, specialized care for patients receiving assessment and treatment in a wide range of specialty areas, including women’s health, sarcoma, GI, THN, GU, ENT, renal melanoma, skin, endocrine, surgical and Phase 1 Clinics. Working collaboratively, team members in this unit care for both medical and surgical oncology patients, while also coordinating care and supporting patients’ families. Responsibilities

Leave paperwork / Prior Authorizations / Prescriptions refills Answering / screening incoming phone calls Coordinating outside labs results and notify patient of normal lab results Acts as preceptor/ trainer Assist with Nurse Triage Performs blood draws as directed Reinforce compliance in billing / coding Facilitates distribution of clinical contacts, schedules and care management tools Monitor and assist with clinic flow, adjusting as needed to ensure efficient patient flow Request medical records from external/internal facilities and prepare for provider review Collaborates with clinic nursing supervisor to develop operational strategies and process improvements for the department / unit Customer Service

Acts as a liaison between patients/families and health care providers Assist in resolving and/or responding to non-clinical related patient complaints and inquiries Qualifications

Required:

Completion of a medical assistant program offered by an accredited school (ABHES or CAAHEP) or military training/experience 2+ years relevant work experience Certified Medical Assistant in the State of Washington and familiar with the State’s conduct and standards of practice Current Surgical Technologist Registration in the State of Washington within 30 days of hire as applicable, depending on location Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent) renewed every two years Willingness to participate in process improvement initiatives Proficient in email and word processing systems Experience with Electronic Medical Records Strong interpersonal and customer service skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex healthcare environment Ability to multitask, prioritize and problem solve Clear verbal and written communication Ability to follow directions and guidance Ability to recognize limitations and seek help Ability to identify learning needs and plan learning opportunities Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies or disasters per clinic protocol Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range for this position is from $31.26 to $44.51 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship. Applicants must already be authorized to work in the US and not require sponsorship now or in the future. This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus, up to $3,000.
