On an independent and self‑directed basis, provide engineering and operating support for preserving the Electric Division’s transmission system capability to serve both new and existing customers in a reliable, safe, and economical manner. Monitor and develop strategies to increase system reliability, maintain reliability reports and filings, and represent the company on industry groups such as PJM, PUC, and EAPA.
This position is fully onsite 5 days a week in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the Electric Division’s Reliability Engineer; track reliability data, investigate issues, respond to PUC reliability data requests, and develop reliability solutions. Lead the reliability group, maintain reliability filings, and participate on reliability committees. Act as lead transmission planning engineer and backup to the distribution planner; perform planning studies, identify system deficiencies, and prioritize improvement projects. Represent the company on PJM planning and SRTEP committees, as well as on EHV administrative and industry working groups. Provide operational support to the System Operations Department, review switching requests, assist in interconnection processes, and perform system analysis on interconnection projects. Participate in distribution automation efforts, assist in restoring service after storms, and perform other special projects as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Five (5) to fifteen (15) years of experience in electric utility operations and engineering. Knowledge of electric utility regulations, compliance requirements, construction standards, and interconnection methods. Strong understanding of UGI’s planning and operating principles. Ability to manage projects independently, adapt standard practices, and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills. Education and Experience
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. At least 5 years of relevant work experience. Valid PA driver’s license. UGI Utilities, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
