Maintenance Specialist (Plumbing Shop) – Florida A&M University Responsibilities

Repair damaged steam and hot water lines by replacing pipes, fittings and valves above and underground as needed Install and repair valves, faucets, traps, sinks, wash bowls, sanitary fixtures, etc.; maintain faucets, wash bowls and piping systems by opening clogged drains; replace washers on leaky faucets Install, repair or replace various incandescent, high intensity discharge and fluorescent fixtures; replace ballast, light switches, receptacles, circuit breakers, fuses and other electrical components Install and repair condensate pumps, hot water pumps, condenser pumps, chemical pumps, sump pumps, steam traps, steam valves, reducing valves, strainers; replace insulation Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment Read blueprints, schematic drawings and building specifications as necessary to make repairs and/or installations Clean, store and maintain tools and equipment; keep work areas clean Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency and five years of related experience; or trade or vocational school graduate and five years of working experience in plumbing and general building systems and service equipment installation, maintenance and repair. Recommended Competencies

Knowledge of plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) fixtures and electrical components and systems Knowledge of operating mechanical systems and equipment maintenance Knowledge of safety procedures in maintenance and repair work Ability to perform a variety of skilled trades/functions Skill in using specialized tools and equipment related to maintenance and repair Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships Salary

Anticipated Salary Range: The salary range is between $35,000 to $40,000 commensurate with relevant experience. Licenses and Certifications

Must maintain a valid Driver's License. Employment Type
