Boiler Combustion & Controls Technician at EMCOR Group, Inc. Responsibilities
Utilize test equipment, meters, and mechanical and electrical abilities to fire boilers and related equipment to ensure proper operation prior to and during installation. Perform independent start-up of boiler and related equipment. Interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Assist the Service team in conducting field service calls to perform start-up, troubleshooting, or other service-related activities as needed. Perform basic electrical and mechanical repairs on boiler and auxiliary equipment. Communicate well to new and existing customers to determine the nature of boiler-specific problems, provide equipment training, explain services and operations, and provide engineering support. Complete required field service reports, which document work performed, nature of problem, hours worked, etc. Problem‑solving and ability to address issues and concerns. Develop and maintain good customer relations and rapport. Look for new sales opportunities and equipment improvements. Promote our products and services and associates favorably. Ability to use hand and power tools, combustion analyzers, and multimeters. May require some overnight travel and overtime. Must be punctual, flexible, trainable, and a self‑starter. Able to think outside of the box and follow detailed directions. Job Specifications
High school diploma or GED; at least four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering studies preferred. Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in industrial steam and power plant operations and familiarity with electrical and mechanical testing equipment. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, contractors, sales personnel, and other shop & service employees. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google App programs and use of a tablet and/or smartphone. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Compensation
