Primary Responsibilities
The Industrial Engineer is responsible for optimizing distribution center operations across multiple sites by applying expertise in Red Prairie/JDA/Blue Yonder Labor Management, time studies, AutoCAD, and Lean engineering principles. This role will play a critical part in improving efficiency, reducing operational costs, and enhancing overall performance within our distribution network. Actions should align with KeHE’s Mission, Vision, and Values. Develops and implements labor standards, accurate labor forecasting, performance tracking, and workforce optimization by utilizing Blue Yonder or other labor management software. Conducts time studies to establish accurate baseline data for operational processes and identifies areas for improvement and efficiency gains. Utilizes AutoCAD to design and layout efficient distribution center floor plans to optimize space utilization and material flow. Maintains Engineered Labor Standards through: developing engineered labor standards for new processes and facilities; conducting time studies to update and validate standards (MSD / PST / MOST); managing existing standards and verifying methods; identifying improvements in methods, procedures, equipment, or workflows; conducting supervisor and employee meetings to review enhancements; maintaining LMS changes and complete records of all time studies or data used to change standards; maintaining Labor Standards to reflect changes. Stays up to date with industry trends and best practices in distribution and process engineering to proactively identify innovative solutions. Other duties and projects as assigned. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Effective written and verbal communication. Proficiency in JDA/Blue Yonder Labor Management for labor forecasting, scheduling, and performance management. Strong knowledge in conducting time studies, process analysis, and workflow optimization. Advanced AutoCAD skills for creating efficient distribution center layouts and floor plans. Knowledge of Lean principles and experience implementing Lean projects. Ability to lead projects across multiple locations and ensure consistent implementation. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Access). Ability to travel 25%-70% with periodic multi-state travel (airplane, rail, rental, or personal vehicle). Ability to manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously and work independently or in a team. Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field required. Minimum of 4+ years of experience in industrial engineering with a focus on JDA Labor Management, time studies, AutoCAD, and Lean engineering principles. Lean training and/or certification preferred. Physical Requirements
Work typically performed in a temperature-controlled environment. Must sit, stand, or walk for extended periods. May spend long periods at a desk or computer terminal. Occasional use of calculators, keyboards, phones, and other office equipment. Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required.
