Packaging Engineer

This is a contract position within the client's R&D group, focusing on packaging engineering activities such as sustaining current product packaging, supporting new product development, and process qualification. The role requires a solid understanding of packaging theories and practices, including experience with various packaging materials and processes like flexible and rigid films, HDPE, foil pouches, corrugated design, thermoforming, flow-wrap, form/fill/seal, and printing technologies. Travel to manufacturing plants and suppliers may be necessary. Responsibilities include: Leading and contributing to packaging projects across quality, regulatory, cost savings, and new product introductions. Managing multiple projects with minimal supervision. Developing testing protocols and managing change control activities. Approving new packaging materials and systems, and studying techniques for improvement and cost reduction. Creating packaging specifications and supporting project milestones. Generating cost savings ideas and resolving packaging issues using critical thinking and DMAIC techniques. Performing financial analysis to justify projects. Qualifications: B.S. in Packaging or relevant engineering field (Mechanical, Chemical, Biomedical) with at least 5 years of experience. Proficiency in packaging materials, problem analysis, statistical methods, and design of experiments. Experience managing packaging projects and cross-functional teamwork. Strong problem-solving skills, ability to handle ambiguity, and knowledge of Lean principles. Preferred: Experience in the Medical Field. Salary ranges vary based on experience and qualifications.
