KKR’s Technology, Engineering, and Data team is responsible for our technological foundation including our data platforms, AI initiatives, and critical integrations that accelerate our path to transformation. The team invests in new technology to support and scale our business and manages investor contact data, permissions, and content within our client-facing portal, collaborating with Sales, Client Operations, Tax, Compliance, Enterprise Risk, Finance, Internal Audit, Legal, and Marketing. Position Summary
We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to direct and oversee the development of KKR’s client portal. This role will work closely with product managers to deliver a stellar experience for our clients. The ideal candidate is a full-stack leader with deep expertise in building robust and secure internet-facing applications in AWS. They will lead a global team of full-stack software developers to deliver a seamless digital experience for our clients and other stakeholders. Responsibilities
Technical Excellence: Solve complex business problems with elegant and intuitive technical solutions. Continuously refine the implementation to align with business needs. Engineering Leadership: Oversee a team of product focused software engineers responsible for the digital client experience. Ensure accountability for the full software development lifecycle, maintaining a consistent and intuitive user experience and connectivity with other applications in the ecosystem and client lifecycle. Continuous Improvement: Stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in technology communities, and mentor other engineers. Vendor and Partner Integrations: Lead buy vs. build assessments, select partners, and manage vendor relationships to ensure high-quality resilient integrations with time-to-value. Platform-Mindset: Align technical decisions with the broader Client Lifecycle Product and Technology vision, focusing on interoperability and scalability across teams and tools. Technology and Company-Wide Contribution: Contribute to Technology and company-wide priorities to support broader objectives. Qualifications
Experience: 10+ years building enterprise-grade, full-stack software solutions with expertise in architecture, design, and development. AWS Cloud-Native: 3+ years developing internet-facing, highly available applications on AWS. Secure by Design: Integrate security into architecture from the start and stay current with emerging threats. React and Typescript: Proficient in modern JavaScript tools including React, TypeScript, MUI, Vite, Jest, Node, and more. DevOps: Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and CI/CD processes. Database Expertise: Strong data modeling and migrations skills across SQL and NoSQL databases. Product-Centric Design: Ability to drive client-focused product design in an agile environment. Data-Driven: Experience with analytics and instrumentation for monitoring and insights. Mentorship & Leadership: Ability to mentor engineers on secure, reliable, and scalable practices. Innovation & Creativity: Encourages adoption of cutting-edge technologies and innovative problem-solving. Effective Communication: Ability to convey complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders. This is the expected annual base salary range for this New York-based position. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as skill, experience, and qualifications. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on individual and team performance.
