Huggins Hospital
Overview
This position reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer for clinical governance, leadership and strategic oversight with the assistance of the Senior Director of Provider and Specialty Services in facilitating administrative operations. Provide high-quality, evidence-based outpatient pediatric care across the age spectrum from neonates/newborns through adolescents in an ambulatory clinic setting. Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to deliver preventive, acute and chronic disease management, ensure continuity of care, document in the electronic medical record (EMR), and participate in quality improvement and patient-family education.
Responsibilities
Conducts physical diagnostic, medical history taking, and therapeutic procedures with the primary care setting in accordance with established standards of care and practice. Deliver outpatient pediatric care including well-child exams, immunizations, developmental/behavioral screening, sports/School physicals, sick visits, and management of chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, ADHD, diabetes). Perform newborn and infant assessments as appropriate for the clinic population; coordinate early referral to specialty care when indicated. Document clinical encounters thoroughly and timely in the EMR; complete required orders, referrals, and paperwork. Use the current Electronic Medical record to complete the documented best practice workflows accurately and efficiently. Provide anticipatory guidance and culturally sensitive education to patients and families on nutrition, safety, development, and preventive health. Coordinate care with specialists, behavioral health providers, social services, and community resources. Recognizes and reports relevant information, requiring urgent attention and ensures proper follow through. Keeps knowledge base current by successfully attending educational workshops. Participate in telephone triage/telemedicine visits as needed and provide after-hours coverage per clinic policy (if applicable). Maintain patient panels and strive to meet access, quality, and patient satisfaction benchmarks. Present as good stewards for Primary care and Huggins Hospital. Participate in practice meetings, quality improvement projects, peer review, and practice guideline implementation. Supervise and collaborate with nurses, medical assistants, care coordinators, and all other members of multi-disciplinary teams; may precept residents, fellows, or medical students. Participates in patient evaluation and treatment of students at Brewster Academy Maintain confidentiality and comply with all regulatory, privacy, and billing/coding requirements. Minimal physical effort required with occasional light lifting to a maximum of 25 pounds; stooping; and pick, pinch, type, or otherwise work primarily with fingers Ability to effectively manage considerable mental stress Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and convey information in a clear, concise and accurate manner Familiarity with computer and other business machines Qualifications
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school. Board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics. Active, unrestricted state medical license (or ability to obtain). Current DEA registration (or ability to obtain). Current BLS and PALS certification. Strong clinical skills in pediatric outpatient medicine. Effective communication skills with children, adolescents, and families. Proficiency with electronic medical records and basic office productivity tools.
