Responsibilities The Home Health
Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA)
performs treatment and provides exercise instruction and patient education aimed at improving/enhancing the patient's well-being while following the established plan of care.
Responsible for following all state-specific laws governing the provision of physical therapy in home care, adhering to the treatment plan set only by the supervising PT; performing only procedures qualified and trained for; and making recommendations for changes in the plan of care to the supervising Physical Therapist.
Instructs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
Observes, records, and reports to the supervising PT, nurse supervisor, and/or physician the patient's response to treatment and changes in condition. Coordinates care with other healthcare team members as appropriate.
Instructs patient, family, caregiver, and other healthcare team members in therapy within the scope of the physical therapy assistant.
Education and Experience License Requirements
Current license, registration, or certification to assist in physical therapy practice in New Jersey
Current CPR certification
Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation
