Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures. Responsibilities
Prepares surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies. Hands required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients. Maintains instruments in an organized manner and monitors and tracks instrument counts throughout procedures. Assists surgeons with the provision of hemostasis during surgery. Certifications and Licensures
BLS Provider Required Education
High School Diploma or GED Comments
For all Surgical Technologist I. Knowledge of surgical procedures and standards of practice acquired through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or military program. Upon completion may certify for the Certified Surgical Technologist exam or completion of a certified Surgical Technology program which upon completion of program may receive a National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) certification.
