Job Description: Case Manager Reports To: Director of Outreach Location: Nonviolence Institute, Providence, RI Status: Full-Time | Non-Exempt Salary Range: Commensurate with experience $45,000 - $50,000 Start Date: Immediate Background The Nonviolence Institute (NVI) seeks to teach by word and example the principles and practices of nonviolence, and to foster a community that addresses potentially violent situations with nonviolent solutions. NVI operates Statewide, with a few programs that operate solely within specific areas. NVI is a nationally recognized organization in reducing violence, particularly street-level violence. Position Summary The Case Manager will provide compassionate, consistent, and trauma-informed support to individuals participating in the SEED (Skills Enrichment and Emotional Development) program and to clients engaged through the Outreach Team. This role is vital in helping participants navigate barriers, build stability, and work toward their personal and professional goals while staying connected to the principles of nonviolence. Key Responsibilities Client Support & Case Management - Provide ongoing case management services to SEED participants and Outreach clients, including intake, assessment, and the development of individualized service plans. - Maintain a manageable caseload, ensuring consistent, high-quality engagement with each client. - Assist clients in accessing wraparound services such as housing, education, employment, healthcare, and legal support. - Meet regularly with clients in the office, community, and home settings as needed. - Work closely with SEED Program staff, Outreach Workers, and community partners to ensure seamless support for clients. - Make referrals to internal and external resources and follow up to ensure service delivery. - Coordinate with discharge planners, probation/parole officers, schools, and treatment providers as appropriate. Documentation & Reporting - Accurately document all interactions, assessments, and outcomes in a timely manner using case management software. - Track and report progress and outcomes for SEED and Outreach clients as part of grant and program requirements. Supportive Presence - Be available as a consistent, nonjudgmental presence during moments of crisis, loss, or transition. - Support participants in practicing nonviolence, building life skills, and maintaining motivation. - Attend funerals, vigils, court proceedings, or hospital visits when appropriate to provide emotional support. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Criminal Justice, or a related field preferred, or equivalent lived and professional experience. - 2+ years’ experience in case management, street outreach, reentry support, or youth development strongly preferred. - Strong understanding of trauma, community violence, and systemic barriers faced by participants. - Familiarity with local resources and services in Providence and surrounding communities. - Commitment to the principles and practices of nonviolence. - Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. - Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends. - Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages spoken in the community) a plus. This position is based in the community and at the Nonviolence Institute’s office.
