Job Summary and Qualifications Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Medical Lab Technologist performs routine, complex or specialized bacteriological, hematological, chemical, immunological, serological and immunoassay procedures on body fluids. The position requires no supervision for processing specimens, performing testing, or reporting results. Responsibilities include maintaining required competencies in all assigned departments, demonstrating accuracy for all testing performed, observing patient safety, risk management, and infection control policies, and performing related quality control and CAP‑required proficiency testing. The technician is expected to identify and assist with opportunities for performance improvement and to promote cost effectiveness while maintaining patient safety and quality of care. Additional duties include actively marketing services to increase volume and awareness and advocating for patient safety and rights.
What you will do in this role:
Effective use of laboratory instrumentation.
Performs and reports testing on quality control and patient specimens accurately and without delay.
Demonstrates competence in performing testing procedures.
Evidence of appropriate specimen identification.
Additional unit‑based skills demonstrations.
What qualifications you will need:
REQUIRED : Associate's Degree in Medical Technology or related field. Licensure/Certification required.
REQUIRED : Must possess MLT or equivalent certification or be currently eligible to sit for MLT or equivalent certification exam.
Certification as MLT (ASCP) or equivalent is required within 180 days of hire.
PREFERRED : General one‑year clinical laboratory experience or equivalent clinical lab training.
Associate degree.
