Staff Psychologist

This position functions as a staff psychologist on the Behavioral Health Interprofessional team in the Mental Health Service at the Toledo Community Based Outpatient Clinic. This work involves providing veteran patients psychological services including assessment, treatment, consultation, and education.
Duties
This position is for a psychologist who is a member of the Toledo Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Team. The psychologist will serve as a generalist providing a wide variety of evidence-based therapies and assessments in the outpatient mental health clinic at the Toledo Community Based Outpatient Clinic. Evaluates and diagnoses mental disorders, conducts psychological, neuro-psychological and/or brief/basic psychological assessments within their areas of competence and consistent with clinical privileges. Treats mental health, substance use disorders, behavioral concerns, physical health, psychosocial problems, and other psychiatric comorbidities with evidence-based treatment approaches within their areas of competence and consistent with clinical privileges. Completes all clinical charting and documentation required by the Healthcare system, as appropriate within established timeliness guidelines and consistent with quality and accreditation standards. Provides clinical supervision, guidance, and consultation for staff and trainees as assigned. Has direct responsibility for all aspects of psychological services provided by themselves and those that they supervise. Consults with and serves as a resource for other professional personnel concerning psychological services. Participates as an active member of an interprofessional team collaborating with other team members to provide well-coordinated care.
Teaching and Research
Teaching Responsibilities: Provides didactic lectures as assigned and qualified across training programs. Provides workshops/seminars and consultation as assigned and qualified. May conduct research and present outcome data and research results at VA and regional or national meetings. May participate in manuscript preparation based upon VA data that supports the delivery of quality care for Veterans. Assists trainees with preparation of research projects relevant to Veteran care.
Administrative Responsibilities
Serves on Mental Health Service, Healthcare System, VISN, and/or National VA committees as directed. Actively participates in leadership roles in VA or partner affiliate programs or other professional organizations as directed. Represents the Healthcare System at professional/program community group/events and committees as directed.
Qualifications and Requirements
Basic Requirements Citizenship: You must be a citizen of the United States. Education: Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited program. The specialty area must be consistent with the assignment. School psychology is not eligible for VHA appointments; other specialty areas are evaluated per policy. Internships/Training: Must have completed an APA- or CPA-accredited internship or meeting equivalent requirements as detailed in the announcement (pathways vary by credential). Licensure: Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology in the United States, or a temporary option under the specified exceptions. Board Certification: If internship was not APA/CPA accredited, board certification by the American Board of Professional Psychology may be required or pursued with continuing education obligations. English Language Proficiency: Proficient in spoken and written English. Background/Security: Subject to background/security investigation.

Grade Determinations
In addition to basic requirements, the following criteria determine grade level: Staff Psychologist GS-11 (Entry Level)
— Experience: None beyond basic requirements. Staff Psychologist GS-12 (Developmental Level)
— At least one year of experience as a professional psychologist equivalent to GS-11; must demonstrate KSAs related to treatment, assessment, research, and consultation. Staff Psychologist GS-13 (Full Performance)
— At least two years of experience as a professional psychologist, including at least one year at GS-12; must demonstrate higher-level KSAs across treatment, consultation, clinical research, and leadership/mentorship capabilities.
