Successful Completion of an approved Radiology Program, preferably college based program with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiological Sciences and/or graduate of an approved Echocardiography Ultrasound program preferred or successful completion of an approved Respiratory Therapy program with a minimum of an Associate Degree in Respiratory Care. American Registry of Radiological Technologist, (R), (ARRT) with additional registry of Sonography (S), (ARRT), or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, (ARDMS) preferred or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and training in Echocardiography Ultrasound preferred. Experience performing Ultrasonography and 6 months of Echocardiography procedures in a hospital environment preferred or documentation of training in Echocardiography Ultrasound preferred. Cardiovascular Credentialed International (CCI) accepted Basic Life Support Provider CPR ACLS Support Provider preferred PRIMARY DUTIES:
Participates in a variety of echocardiography and ultrasound procedures. Performs echocardiogram testing as outlined in the echocardiogram polices. Acquires adequate knowledge of the patients’ medical history to understand and relate to their illnesses. Recognizes emergency patient conditions and initiates life saving measures when appropriate. Provides service for patients of all ages following age-specific requirements. Applies knowledge of ultrasound physics and safety regulations to limit ultrasound to ALARA standards. Acquires pertinent information from patient charts, hospital records, billing information, and appointment history using hospital based computer programs. Works independent of others and in a timely manner. Participates in departmental inspections conducted by various licensing, regulatory, and accrediting agencies. Functions as a team member and assists the other departments within Cardiopulmonary when necessary, or when patient load permits.
