Overview

The Medical Leader provides medical/clinical oversight, leadership, and supervision of the medical staff at Ethel Lund Medical Center and Front Street Clinic. The Physician works collaboratively with other departments and managers to assure optimal delivery of health care services consistent with SEARHC policy and procedure, Medical Staff Bylaws, and nationally recognized medical standards of care. The Physician supports, encourages, and implements SEARHC strategic goals and organizational initiatives. The Physician provides direct patient care services including after hours on-call. Key Responsibilities

Provides comprehensive primary care; ongoing care to a patient panel; participates as a 1.0 FTE in the clinic-provider on-call rotation. Oversees the medical provider team quality of care, including selection of locums and permanent provider applicants; completes FPPE for new providers; performs annual chart reviews and provides feedback to permanent providers. Refers cases to PQIC for adverse outcomes or deviations from standard of care; collaborates to maximize clinical quality measures; supports the Integrated Healthcare Team Model at ELMC and maintains/updates ICT as clinic needs evolve. Ensures provider staff compliance with medical policies and protocols approved by SEARHC medical committees. Participates in patient complaint reviews and involves the Primary Care Medical Director as needed. Arranges CME with visiting specialists and trainings for staff. Chairs ELMC Medical Staff meetings monthly to share updates and gather provider feedback. Supervises local medical providers; serves as supervisor, consultant, mentor, and coach for clinic physicians and non-physician providers. For physician assistants, serves as primary collaborative physician. Involves in provider interviews, reference checks, and new provider orientation; resolves conflicts related to scheduling, call, patient assignment, and communication, consulting the Primary Care Medical Director as needed. Coordinates with the BRH Hospitalist Director to ensure quality care for SEARHC patients under the Hospitalist Hybrid Model; reviews patient feedback and drives improvements where needed. Collaborates with the Clinic Administrator to improve clinic operations, including staffing recommendations, facility needs, and equipment selection and procurement. Education, Certifications, and Licenses

Physician, MD or DO, with active SEARHC medical staff privileges State of Alaska Medical License as MD or DO BLS required Experience

Three years post-residency clinical practice Experience in medical administration or supervision of medical professionals preferred Knowledge
