RN, Ambulatory Oncology Clinical Coordinator – US-OR-Portland Requisition ID: 2025-34941 • Position Category: Nursing-RN • Job Type: ONA union represented • Position Type: Regular Part-Time • Posting Department: Oncology Clinic-Care Coordination • Posting Salary Range: $55.24 - $92.02 per hour, based on RN Degree and level of experience • Posting FTE: 0.75 • Posting Schedule: Monday-Friday; Potential for Hybrid • Posting Hours: variable between 7:00am - 6:30pm, 10 hour shifts • HR Mission: Healthcare • Drug Testable: Yes Department Overview: The Adult Ambulatory Oncology Clinic at OHSU Center for Health and Healing, Building 2 (CHH2) serves patients within Medical Oncology, Hematologic Malignancies, Cellular Therapy, Gynecologic Oncology, Palliative Care and Classical Hematology. We collaborate with Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Infusion services, Dietitians, Pharmacy, Social Work, Case Management and other members of the multidisciplinary health care team to provide exceptional oncology care for our patients and community. This position works with solid tumor patients within Medical Oncology. This position also comes with great benefits! Function/Duties of Position

The Registered Nurse Coordinator is a key member of a multi-disciplinary patient care team, including providers, residents, fellows and other clinical support staff. The RN Coordinator provides direct and indirect professional nursing care for patients seeking oncology services including bone marrow/stem cell transplant, cellular therapies, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy treatments. They assess patient and family needs, assist in developing a plan of care, implement, educate, and evaluate the care delivered. The RN Coordinator serves as a key communication link between the patient, family and the care team, and advocates for patients and families, ensuring clinical and business systems are customer service oriented. The RN Coordinator practices in accord with professional standards and values, with a commitment to service excellence. The RN Coordinator reports to the Care Management and Coordination Manager in Ambulatory Oncology. The Knight Cancer Institute provides total patient centered medical care in a practice setting staffed by faculty and fellows. Department Specific Working Conditions: Hybrid schedule with variable 10-hour days Monday-Friday; ability to work in a busy clinic with interruptions; ability to use medical and non-medical unit equipment required to perform essential functions. Department Specific Responsibilities: The RN Coordinator works with Providers to gather baseline clinical information prior to the patient visit and prepare new patients for testing, evaluation, and potential outcomes. The RN Coordinator collaborates with Nurse Navigators, Team Coordinators, Care Coordinators, and Managed Care Coordinators to obtain authorizations and complete pre-registration. The RN Coordinator collaborates with interdisciplinary teams (Cellular Therapy, Intervention Radiology, Apheresis, Research, etc.) to ensure timely and accurate care. The RN Coordinator may assign tasks to team members after assessing patient needs, staff skills, and resources. The RN Coordinator collaborates to expedite patient flow during clinical practice sessions. The RN Coordinator ensures provider orders from new patient visits are recorded and executed, and that lab and diagnostic findings are available promptly; tracks post-visit flow to ensure timely care plans. The RN Coordinator explains pre-hospitalization, hospital stay, and post-discharge expectations to patients and families and troubleshoots any issues during hospitalization. General Clinical/Patient Care Identify patient needs through observation of symptoms, emotional state, and socioeconomic background; assess pain, nutrition, and functional needs. Triages and responds to inquiries; alerts Providers to urgent conditions; refer or escalate as needed. Plan care with Providers and team to address patient needs. Provide individualized nursing care appropriate to treatments. Respond to emotional needs and develop therapeutic relationships with patients; communicate and resolve barriers with the health team. Assess learning needs and implement patient teaching with available resources. Inpatient Clinical Care Coordinate appointments and planned admissions and communicate plans to inpatient staff to optimize outcomes. Work with Nursing Manager and service chief on protocol and pathway-driven care for common malignancies and quality measures for Med Onc Service; adhere to pathways. Review key quality indicators and assist in developing or modifying processes for continuous improvement. Outpatient Clinical Care Assess patient/family status and needs per standards. Educate patients/families on chemotherapy and treatment plans. Initiate and monitor the treatment plan of care; adjust as needed based on responses. Collaborate with call center staff and triage nurses to triage all patient calls and assist with communication; use standing orders when appropriate. Recognize emergencies, communicate with Providers in emergencies, and facilitate appropriate actions. Assist with program placement as needed; advocate for patients and families; maintain knowledge of standards of care; execute provider orders per protocol; address ethical issues; stay current on pharmacology and administration. Collaborate with support services (genetic counseling, social work, nutrition, etc.). Required Qualifications BSN from a program accredited by CCNE, ACEN or CNEA 30 days before start date. ADN from an accredited program 30 days before start date. Associate degree nurses must enroll in BSN within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years. Current, unencumbered Oregon RN license and Washington RN license within 6 months of hire. BLS at time of hire through the American Heart Association; BLS must not expire during orientation or probation. Department Specific Three years of Hematology/Oncology nursing experience within the past five years. The RN must have one of the following: Current OCN certification or 36 cancer-related continuing education hours per COC. Preferred Qualifications Ambulatory Oncology coordination experience.
