Provide medical care and treatment within established scope of practice to acute care services and emergency medicine patients as assigned by and under the direction of the collaborating physician. Coordinate plan of care, discharge and specialty referrals as appropriate to meet age-specific needs of the patient. Plan and coordinate health care education for patient, family and other health care providers as needed. Perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments; interpret patient medical records and social data. Perform and/or assist the physician with procedures per collaborative agreement. Coordinate and participate in performance improvement activities. Position Summary

To provide medical care and treatment within established scope of practice to acute care services and emergency medicine patients as assigned by and under the direction of the collaborating physician (Alabama Board of Nursing) or under supervision of a Board-Certified Physician. The collaborating physician shall be available for direct communication for consultation and referral or arrange for same medical coverage by a physician who is pre-approved by the State Board of Medical Examiners. To coordinate plan of care, discharge and specialty referrals as appropriate to meet age-specific needs of the patient. To educate patients, families, and other health care providers as needed. Position Requirements

Minimum Requirements Master's degree in Nursing with a Psychiatric Mental Health NP certification is required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Licenses / Certifications / Registrations Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required or obtained within 30 days of employment. ACLS and/or PALS may be required depending on unit/department. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Knowledge of procedures, protocols, information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat injuries, disease and deformities. Knowledge of computer systems, tools and programs; written and verbal communication; interpersonal skills. Ability to be self-directed, multi-task, problem-solve, work independently and as part of a team; maintain patient confidentiality. Schedule & Benefits

Work schedule: Full-time, benefited. Available shifts: 8-hour day shifts (8am–5pm), 7 days on/7 days off. APP will work 14–16 shifts per month. Weekends and holidays required. On-call time may be required. CME allowance: $2,000 annual for both part-time and full-time APPs (recertification, applicable fees, CME courses, etc.). About UAB Medicine
