Salary: $65,000 – $76,000

BLE’s laboratory is accredited by AASHTO and CCRL, and the Laboratory Technician will support its rigorous testing program.
Job Description As a Construction Materials Laboratory Technician (CMLT) you will report directly to the Lab Manager. Your responsibilities will include sample receipt, calibration, testing, and documentation for geotechnical and construction materials. Strong leadership and collaboration are essential, as you will contribute to a high‑standard testing environment.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Familiarity with ASTM, AASHTO, AMRL, CCRL and USACOE test methods for geotechnical and construction materials
ACI Concrete Testing Technician and ACI Aggregate Base Testing certifications
Detail oriented, time conscious and time effective
Knowledge of project management, baseline documentation, costs and schedules
Intermediate‑to‑Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word & Excel)
Self‑motivated, able to work independently and lead a project team
Excellent verbal and written communication with team members, BLE leadership and authorities at all levels
Daily Functions and Duties
Laboratory sample receipt and processing
Use of EXCEL, Geosystems and eFieldData for recording test results
Calibration of field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards
Conducting, reporting and analyzing tests for soil and aggregate, triaxial compression, direct shear, consolidation, Proctors, grain size, Atterberg limits, permeability, CBR, organic contents, specific gravity, pH, resistivity and concrete strength testing
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with AASHTO R18
Triaxial compression, direct shear and consolidation testing experience
