Accountable for day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities where state and federal laws/regulations allow; ensures efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. Serves as a full-time certified pharmacy technician (where allowed by law). Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers within the guidelines of authorized company policies, laws, regulations and business ethics. Responsible for the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel. Lead training, coaching, and performance management of pharmacy technicians. Make decisions regarding performance management including discipline and termination. Customer Experience: Engage customers and patients, resolve complaints, respond to requests in a timely manner, answer non-clinical questions, and model customer service best practices. Develop relationships with customers by anticipating needs and promoting services for the best experience when using the pharmacy. Operations: Assist pharmacist in patient care activities including patient registration, prescription data entry, preparation and verification of medications (where allowed by law). Support health services offerings such as vaccines and health screenings (where allowed by law). Delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work to ensure on-time task completion and efficient workflow. Prepare and file reports and records as required by the company and government agencies. Manage core pharmacy workflow and daily schedule; optimize staffing and ensure the pharmacy is stocked and compliant with policies. Oversee inventory management and recordkeeping; ensure security safeguards are in place. Under the direction of the pharmacist, ensure compliance with Good Faith Dispensing and related policies. Monitor for diversion and report concerns to the Pharmacy Manager. Communicate prescription errors per policy and participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement Program. Support pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service; coordinate with Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager on improvement initiatives. Manage Community Outreach Portal and coordinate pharmacists for off-site immunization clinics and community events; build vendor and retail partnerships. People & Performance Management: Lead performance management of technicians, including discipline and termination decisions. Hire, onboard, train, and schedule technicians; monitor training completion and ensure regulatory compliance. Identify knowledge gaps and provide training solutions. Monitor licensure and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Training & Personal Development: Maintain PTCB certification; pursue ongoing professional development and required training modules; seek feedback and engage in mentoring as applicable. Communication: Communicate with the pharmacy team and participate in store/pharmacy meetings and briefings. Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico). One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in retail or hospital settings. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations). Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management/leadership experience. Previous work experience with Walgreens with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation.
