Base pay range Job Summary: Provides empathetic pharmacy consulting services to patients regarding the effective use of medications and drug interaction awareness. Offers preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome services. Ensures prescribed medications are compounded, reviewed, dispensed, and verified accurately according to regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures. Manages an efficient pharmacy workflow and improves pharmacy financials, manages inventory effectively, and enhances patient experience. Manages pharmacy staff performance and engagement. Ensures the professional development of pharmacy staff by overseeing training, focused coaching, and executing formal performance management initiatives.

Responsibilities

Patient Experience: Engages patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves patient issues in a timely manner and answers questions to ensure a positive patient experience.

Customer service leadership: Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and joyful patient experience, including interpersonal habits that show care and Walgreens service traits.

Patient engagement: Connects with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services. Leads efforts on enhancing patient experience by increasing awareness of healthcare services offered through Walgreens.

Event participation: Participates and assists in events that reflect the communities served.

Operations: Counsels patients on usage of medicine, side effects, interactions, confidentiality, generics, and OTC products. Refers to medical providers as needed to ensure correct use and satisfaction.

Pharmacy tasks: Performs compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management. Reviews, interprets, and dispenses prescribed medications per regulations.

Compliance and workflow: Ensures pharmacy operates per regulations and policies. Oversees staff scheduling, roles, activities, and shift changes; open/close responsibilities.

Good Faith Dispensing: Ensures artifacts of Good Faith Dispensing per state/federal laws when filling prescriptions.

Strategic collaboration: Partners with Store Manager to define and develop new strategic business opportunities.

Technology and support: Maintains pharmacy IT knowledge (workflow, billing, documentation, inventory, POS). Supports staff and patients with IT and seeks productivity improvements.

Insurance and claims: Ensures claims are processed accurately; resolves issues with insurers and providers; participates in third-party audits as needed.

Clinical services: Follows up with providers on prescriptions, dosages, refills, interactions, allergies; performs immunizations, diagnostic testing, disease state management, and other healthcare services.

Virtual operations: Partners with centralized support for patient registration and issue resolution; conducts virtual product reviews following company procedures.

Pharmacy maintenance: Manages maintenance, housekeeping, and improvements of the pharmacy department and records compliance with laws.

Documentation: Prepares and submits records and reports required by laws (operating statements, performance indicators, etc.).

People & Performance Management

Hiring and discipline: Collaborates with Store Manager on staff hiring and ensures compliance with employment laws.

Performance management: Establishes expectations, monitors improvements, and conducts formal performance reviews.

Talent development: Identifies high-potential team members and manages career progression with Store Manager.

Employee relations: Addresses concerns and maintains morale.

Training & Personal Development

Licensing and credentials: Maintains required licensing/credentialing/certification.

Continuing education: Keeps knowledge up-to-date with pharmacy and healthcare developments and Walgreens communications.

Training completion: Completes required education credits and training.

Professional growth: Seeks feedback and mentors/coaches from Healthcare Supervisor and Store Manager.

Communications

Supports Store Manager by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness information to pharmacy staff.

Business Performance & Planning

Analytics: Analyzes performance data including financials, customer service, and inventory; oversees asset protection and inventory management; identifies trends and opportunities for improvement.

Community relations: Develops relationships with local medical professionals and promotes health and wellness awareness in the community.

Basic Qualifications

BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D from an accredited institution.

Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district.

Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.

At least 1 year of pharmacy experience including dispensing, recordkeeping, compliance, operations, software/tech, and insurance billing.

Experience with prescription dispensing and knowledge of state/federal controlled substance laws.

Performance rating and disciplinary history if applicable (internal candidates only).

Preferred Qualifications

Supervisory experience with pharmacy staff.

At least 6 months pharmacy experience with Walgreens.

Leadership rating on performance reviews (internal candidates only).

Salary Range:

Pharmacy Manager $5,775.00-$6,342.00 Bi-Weekly
