Job Title: Histotechnician
Assists in the day-to-day operations of the laboratory with regard to histology specimen processing. Processes and prepares patient tissue according to department procedures using a wide range and depth of technical and specialized knowledge. Participates in laboratory operations as needed and supports continuous improvement of laboratory services to ensure high quality and timely pathology for quality diagnosis. Benefits

Performs tissue processing, embedding in paraffin, cutting, sectioning, staining, and mounting on slides for interpretation by a pathologist. Performs slide preparation according to SOP guidelines. Assists with quality control standards in the laboratory. Helps maintain blocks and/or slides files. Maintains laboratory in a clean, functional state and performs scheduled equipment and instrument maintenance/calibration/certifications as required. Complies with all departmental SOPs and adheres to all rules and protocols. Responds to emergency situations. Performs other duties as assigned. Certification/Skills
Certified Histotechnician (HT(ASCP)) by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required. Minimum Education
Associate’s degree. Minimum Experience
Six months of directly related experience. Physical Requirements
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Security Sensitive
