Summer Nurse Externship (Summer 2026) The Summer Nurse Externship is a 10-week program designed for nursing students entering their final year. The program begins with a two-week orientation including both classroom and clinical components, in which the nurse extern performs basic bedside care and selected nursing procedures. The Nurse Extern is assigned to a Registered Nurse throughout the Externship to perform basic bedside care and selected nursing procedures. Nurse Externs partner with an RN to learn and demonstrate physical assessment skills, and learn and demonstrate routine basic care skills (bathing, safety, and hygiene activities). This is for a nursing student entering their final year of an accredited nursing program.

Summary of Position Responsible to a Registered Nurse for performing basic bedside care and selected nursing procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Nursing student in final year of an accredited Nursing Program and one clinical rotation, or a Graduate Nurse without Boards required.
