Advanced Practitioner – Respiratory Physiotherapy – FNC+
We are looking for an Autonomous Expert Clinician to lead advanced respiratory physiotherapy within NHS Lanarkshire.
Role You will manage highly complex patients through expert assessment, treatment planning and discharge. Introduce new approaches to physiotherapy access, focus on health promotion and self‑management. Provide expert support and education for physiotherapists, health professionals, relatives and carers. Liaise with other social and health services to optimise patient outcomes. Maintain and improve clinical governance, evidence‑based practice and quality assurance. Implement research, audit and develop a service responsive to national initiatives and clinical governance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead clinical assessment and management of complex respiratory physiotherapy patients.
Develop and implement innovative physiotherapy access pathways and self‑management initiatives.
Provide educational support and training to physiotherapists and allied health professionals.
Coordinate multidisciplinary care, including liaison with community, social and health services.
Maintain clinical governance, audit and quality assurance in partnership with the care group lead.
Drive research, audit and service development aligned with NHS national policies.
Qualifications
Registered Physiotherapist with valid HCPC registration.
Masters level education or working towards Masters level.
Postgraduate expertise within respiratory physiotherapy demonstrating breadth of knowledge and leadership.
Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within respiratory physiotherapy.
Evidence of application of advanced practice skills and clinical judgement.
Experience in management, leadership and continuous professional development.
Strong team‑working, leadership and influence skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and time‑management skills.
Working knowledge of basic information technology.
Full UK/EU/EEA driving licence.
Contract Type Fixed Term/Secondment until 31/03/2026 – Full time – 37 hours per week.
Location and Working Pattern FNC+ within Kirklands – NHSL Headquarters. 7‑day rota based on a 7‑day rota. Applicants shortlisted may be considered for similar vacancies in alternative locations.
