229115 R2 Generic Advanced Clinical Specialist – Nurse Specialist – Heart Failure
Join NHS Ayrshire & Arran as an Advanced Clinical Specialist in Heart Failure. The role is part of a multidisciplinary team that manages highly specialist and complex caseloads using evidence‑based practice and client‑centred principles.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of quality improvement, clinical audit and research activities within the specialty.
Supervise, educate and develop members of the multidisciplinary team and provide expert advice and support to staff and patients.
Plan and deliver specialist care, manage patient pathways and collaborate with clinical teams across acute and community settings.
Operate within the defined specialism across NHS Lanarkshire and NHS Ayrshire & Arran, ensuring safe and effective patient outcomes.
Required Qualifications
Registered Healthcare Practitioner with a valid UK registration (NMC / HCPC).
Postgraduate or masters‑level education with demonstrated advanced practice experience within heart failure and related clinical conditions.
Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines, best practice standards and specialist policies.
Evidence of advanced practice clinical judgement and advanced specialist clinical practice skills.
Experience in clinical leadership, education and continuous professional development within the specialty.
Preferred Experience
Master’s degree in area of specialty or management.
Management qualification or equivalent CPD experience.
Independent or supplementary prescribing (where relevant).
Previous leadership of a nursing team and collaboration with acute and community teams.
Experience delivering education, training and presentations to clinical staff and patients/carers.
Contract and Working Pattern Fixed term or secondment until 31/03/2026. Full‑time, 37 hours per week, 7‑day rota. The role is based in FNC+/Interface within Kirklands – NHS Ayrshire & Arran Headquarters.
