Job Overview Occupational therapy addresses the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, sensory‑perceptual, and other aspects of performance in a variety of contexts and environments to support engagement in occupations that affect physical and mental health, well‑being and quality of life.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Assess individual patients' occupational therapy needs and develop a occupation‑based treatment program with goals.
Review physicians’ referrals, obtain patient medical history, administer evidence‑based exams, and screening tests.
Perform evaluations to determine functional capacities and deficits (functional, cognitive, visual, perceptual abilities).
Analyze test results to create a plan of care, including interventions, goals, intensity, duration, and discharge recommendations.
Provide education to patients and caregivers about activity purpose, equipment use, home exercises, and activity.
Conduct regular re‑examinations, measure outcomes, and obtain feedback from patient, caregiver, and interdisciplinary team.
Develop and modify treatment programs to meet changing patient needs.
Oversee the clinical work of Occupational Therapy Assistant and Rehabilitation Aide.
Manage multiple patients simultaneously with accurate, timely documentation.
Participate in continuing education and incorporate new information into practice.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in California.
Current BLS Certification.
Completes mandatory stroke‑specific education requirements for certification.
Preferred experience with Microsoft Office and healthcare database systems; bilingual or multilingual preferred.
Acute Rehabilitation Unit: Demonstrated competency in Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Quality Reporting Program (IRF QRP); may require home evaluation visits.
