Overview
Provide patient care in outpatient physician practice under the direction of the practicing physician, physician assistant, or licensed nurse. Assist with clinical and clerical duties to ensure optimization of patient experience within the practice. Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries. Prepare patients for visits and support clinical flow in all areas of the practice. Responsibilities
Provide patient care in outpatient physician practice under the direction of the practicing physician, physician assistant, or licensed nurse. Assist with clinical and clerical duties to ensure optimization of patient experience within the practice. Welcome patients by greeting them in person or on the telephone; answer or refer inquiries. Prepare patients for health care visits by guiding them to the examining room, providing gowns and drapes, helping with positioning, and arranging instruments, supplies, and equipment. Verify patient information by interviewing patients, reviewing/recording medical history, taking vital signs, and confirming the purpose of visit or treatment. Support patient care delivery by assisting health care providers during examinations; prepare laboratory specimens; perform basic laboratory tests; dispose of contaminated supplies; sterilize instruments; draw blood; prepare patients for x-rays; take electrocardiograms; remove sutures; change dressings. Complete records by documenting patient examination, treatment, and test results. Schedule hospital procedures, surgeries, and tests; precertify and obtain test results. Handle phone calls and messages for prescriptions, notes, forms, etc.; complete disability and insurance forms. Maintain clinical flow in all areas of the practice. Qualifications/Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification or Diploma from accredited Medical Assistant school/program required. National Certification preferred. Heart Saver OR BLS Certification required. Two years job experience is preferred. Demonstrate basic computer skills (MS Office, Word, Excel). Demonstrates strong phone/customer service skills. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written English proficiency required. Demonstrate willingness to work in a team environment. Demonstrate flexibility due to unexpected changes in workload. Employment details
