The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is seeking an Anesthesia Technician. The ideal candidate will acquire, prepare, set-up, and maintain anesthesia equipment used in administering anesthesia for both routine and complex surgical cases. Responsibilities:

Conduct a functional check of anesthesia equipment during assigned shifts. Prepare, set up, and calibrate anesthesia equipment in assigned operating rooms prior to the beginning of the scheduled surgery. Clean, disinfect, stock, and maintain routine anesthesia equipment and supplies in accordance with infection control and manufacturer policies and regulations. Maintain standardized anesthesia carts to ensure that appropriate equipment and supplies are available to anesthesia providers. Transport anesthesia equipment to and from anesthesia work areas as required. Remove all special and reusable material after each surgery and disinfect this material in accordance with infection control policies and regulations. Regularly check anesthesia equipment and monitors to ensure proper working condition. Maintain anesthesia supplies and equipment according to needs and schedules. Organize and maintain anesthesia workroom, supplies, and equipment. Respond to emergency anesthesia supply and equipment replacement requests during anesthesia administration. Identify malfunctioning equipment and perform basic trouble shooting for monitors and equipment. Document and maintain preventative maintenance and quality records. Requirements:

Two (2) years of experience at the level of an Anesthesia Technician in a healthcare setting. Completion of an approved Anesthesia Technology program from an accredited institution. Certificates must be issued by an accredited program by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT). Working Conditions:

This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds. Additional Information:

Appointees may be required to work any shift, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions is required.
