Interventional Procedures Technologist II- Interventional Radiology - Days
Position: Interventional Radiology Technician
Location: Arlington Heights, IL
Employment: Full Time, 40 hours per week
Hours: 6:30am – 5:00pm, 6-10 on-call shifts per month
On-call hours may be weekdays or weekends
Required Travel: No
What You Will Do
Operate and troubleshoot procedure-specific equipment, including intravascular/intracardiac imaging devices, fractional flow reserve, atherectomy/thrombectomy devices, lithotripsy, ventricular assist devices, intravascular stenting and angioplasty, distal protection devices, managing catheters/wires/sheaths, etc.
Assist physicians in performing complex coronary, complex peripheral, transvenous pacing, and pericardiocentesis; assist in transvenous/intracardiac/transcutaneous pacing.
Demonstrate thorough understanding of patient anatomy and physiology during procedural support (Cardiac/ Neuro/ Vascular/ Interventional Radiology).
Understand contrast agents: indications/contraindications and dosing.
Maintain radiation safety and protection for all team members during procedures, including use of protective apparel, ALARA principles, shielding, dose rate controls, and dosimetry monitoring.
Monitor lead aprons integrity and dose calibration.
Perform fluoroscopy, digital acquisition, road mapping, projections/positions, post-processing, and archiving.
Know parts, function and safety of pressure injectors; maintain equipment and software used in Interventional Suites (examples include Merge Hemo, GE CCW, IR Coder, Insysiv, Philips Imaging Software, Siemens Imaging Software, 3D mapping software).
Recognize and manage complications and post-procedure issues (e.g., stroke, arrhythmia, bleeding, vascular occlusion).
Obtain arterial and venous hemostasis and manage puncture sites; deploy closure devices as appropriate.
Transport and communicate for transition of care; provide patient education on post-procedure care.
Respond to emergency situations (e.g., STEMI, chest pain, pulmonary edema, pulmonary embolus, dissection, tamponade, perforation, shock, stroke, anaphylaxis, GI bleed, pneumothorax, cardiac arrest).
Maintain and operate emergency equipment (defibrillator, code cart, suction, airway management, automatic external compression device).
What You Will Need
Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology or other allied health field
IEMA licensure (Illinois Emergency Management Agency)
ARRT (R) in Radiology certification
ACLS certification required or must obtain within twelve months of start date
Current CPR certification (American Heart Association)
Advanced certification in one of these areas: RCIS, VI, or RCES (preferred)
Minimum of one year of procedural experience in Neuroscience, Catheterization Lab, or Interventional Radiology (preferred)
