As a PH Nursing Supervisor 1 within the Sumter County Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

This position will be based in Americus, GA and will function as a Public Health Nurse/County Nurse Manager in the Sumter County Health Department. This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

Plan for client level & population-based nursing services

Evaluate, compile, and submit data and reports by established deadlines

Evaluate supplies, equipment and medication needs and ensure adequate levels are maintained

Monitor clinic activity and modify schedule, as needed

Coordinate peer reviews and protocol signature pages, mock drills, and emergency vaccine storage plans, as needed

Order and approve requisitions for program supplies and medications / vaccines

Identify training needs of clinic staff and ensure training is provided

Identify new community collaborations and/or revenue resources, when applicable

Participate in the Nurse Manager meetings monthly/quarterly

Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND Three (3) years of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification; or Two (2) years of experience at the lower-level PH Registered Nurse Supervisor (HCP193) or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications Professional experience in public health nursing preferred. Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND Two (2) years of PHN experience AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) as valid. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degrees, diplomas, licensures, and other relevant credentials.
