Overview
RWJBarnabas Health (Barnabas Health Medical Group) is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant in the Orthopedic department at Jersey City Medical Center. The Physician Assistant provides care through assessment, diagnosis, clinical judgment, and management to restore, maintain, and improve the health status of patients. Location: Jersey City, NJ. Pay range: $120,000.00 – $170,000.00 per year. Shift: Day. Status: Full-Time. Responsibilities
Participates in the clinical management of orthopaedic patients, supporting both surgical and non-surgical care, while actively engaging with residents and attending physicians in a collaborative learning environment. Independently manages patients in the outpatient orthopaedic clinic, including splinting, casting, suture/staple removal, and overseeing nonoperative and post-operative care plans. Responsible for hospital-based care including inpatient rounding, emergency room consultations, pre- and post-op management, wound care (e.g., dressings, wound vacs), discharges, and occasional surgical assistance. Manages care for patients across orthopaedic subspecialties, including total joint replacements (hip, knee, shoulder), trauma (Level 2), hand, pediatric, and spine cases. Qualifications

Full-Time Day shift 40 hours/week Essential Functions
Evaluate and treat all patients on the orthopaedic service or those with orthopaedic injuries, complaints, concerns, or diagnoses. Evaluate admitted and emergency room patients through consultations. Perform orthopaedic consultation, history and physical examination, admission and discharge orders. Perform orthopaedic procedures necessary for complete work up, diagnosis, and treatment of orthopaedic injuries and complaints. Order xrays and advanced imaging studies based on fracture pattern and necessity. Fracture reductions as directed by supervising physician and department protocol. Apply casts, splints and skeletal traction as directed by supervising physician and department protocol. Administer local anesthesia and therapeutic injections and aspirations. Placement and discontinuation of surgical drains and dressing changes. Suture, I&D and care for wounds associated with orthopaedic injuries, including the changing of dressings and removal of sutures and staples. Communicate with healthcare personnel inside and outside of the hospital to facilitate patient care. Act as first assist in the operating room to facilitate room setup and turnover, closure of surgical incisions, and application of splints post-operatively. Bills for patient services based on CMS and NJ State Board Regulations. Lead or participate in training on HIPAA, OSHA, and compliance policies. Collaborates with supervising physicians on diagnoses and treatment plans. Additional Information
