The Altshuler Center for Education & Research strives to advance mental health knowledge while supporting the workforce state-wide. Position : Speech Language Pathologist - CFY (Clinical Fellow Year) in the Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) program. The CFY provides speech development therapy, assessment, education, planning and support to ECI children and families under clinical supervision. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Develops, implements and provides individual speech language therapy for infants and toddlers in inclusive and natural settings. Provides families with consultation and therapy services in the home. Evaluates for and develops assistive technology/adaptive equipment to support daily living skills and independence. Organizes and conducts assessments and service delivery plans. Is knowledgeable about community resources and service delivery systems. Provides consultation and training for other Interdisciplinary team members to facilitate therapy programs. Coordinates interdisciplinary services for families. Completes accurate and timely documentation including progress notes and other required records. Works in accordance with ECI philosophy regarding natural environment and teamwork with other ECI practices. Complies with ECI of Metrocare and ECI State policies and procedures. Contributes to the growth of the agency through additional activities (e.g., volunteering, outreach, committees). Attends mandatory ECI staff meetings including discipline-specific meetings. Performs other duties as assigned. Competencies
Conducts responsibilities in accordance with ethical standards, state contract requirements, professional standards and applicable laws. Analytical skills, professional acumen, confidentiality, and strong communication skills. Self-motivation, supervision skills, problem solving, and public speaking/presentation abilities. Ability to engage with unfamiliar groups and advocate for and educate children. Qualifications
Education: Master’s Degree in Speech Therapy. Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills; ability to work with reports and numbers. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out simple instructions; handle standardized situations with limited variables. Computer Skills: Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and general Internet resources. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Current State of Texas Driver License or valid license in another state; if licensed elsewhere, must obtain Texas Driver License within three months of employment. Liability insurance required for operation of a personal vehicle on Center property or Center business; must have an acceptable driving record. Licensed Speech Language Therapist-INTERN by the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Benefits Information And Perks
