Overview
Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Team. This advanced practice provider will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, family-centered care to children with blood disorders and cancer.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive care to pediatric patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings
Perform physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians
Manage chemotherapy administration, transfusions, and supportive care
Participate in patient and family education, ensuring understanding of diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
Coordinate care with other specialties, nursing staff, social workers, and support services
Participate in clinical rounds, tumor boards, and quality improvement initiatives
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
Current licensure as an NP or PA in the state of Texas (or eligibility to obtain)
National certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) or Physician Assistant
BLS and PALS certification required
Prior experience in pediatric hematology/oncology or pediatric acute care preferred
Preferred Skills
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Comfort with managing complex pediatric patients and coordinating multidisciplinary care
