Overview
Inpatient Clinical Pharmacist
– Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, VA. Full‑time, rotating 8‑hour shifts, 6 am‑11 pm (occasional overnights) with every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation. Clinical pharmacist responsible for safe, effective, and prompt pharmacy services, medication‑use system participation, and individualized patient care in the inpatient setting.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate independent, competent pharmacy practice and patient drug therapy management.
Assure appropriate medication orders and high‑level patient safety.
Maintain current knowledge of medication use and disease states.
Serve as primary drug information and education resource; provide in‑depth patient counseling.
Participate in training new employees and local task ownership.
Follow policies, procedures, and quality assurance requirements; triage and escalated questions as needed.
Operate pharmacy equipment appropriately and precept pharmacy students as assigned.
Other duties assigned as required.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (Required). Doctorate Level Degree in Pharmacy (Preferred).
Certification/Licensure:
Virginia Pharmacist License (Required). Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (Preferred).
Experience:
Previous hospital experience preferred. Residency trained preferred.
