Physician Assistant – AdventHealth West Florida Division
Location: Port Charlotte, FL. Salary range: $92,000–$110,000. This role supports high-volume surgical and critical care services.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Communicate effectively and courteously with patients, families, and staff via in-person, electronic, and telephone modalities.
Exhibit respect for co‑workers and develop positive working relationships within the practice, hospital, and other departments.

Assess patient health by interviewing, performing physical examinations, and identifying medical and surgical conditions.
Obtain and update patient medical and surgical histories.
Provide continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
Determine abnormalities by ordering and administering diagnostic tests (X‑rays, EKG, laboratory studies).
Review and interpret patient test results.
Provide pre‑ and post‑operative care and patient education.
Perform therapeutic procedures (injections, suturing, managing drains, dressing changes, wound care, infection management) in both clinic and hospital settings.
Perform hospital rounds on surgical consultations and pre‑ and post‑operative patients.
Assist the supervising physician with discharge services (discharge planning, summaries, coordination of post‑discharge follow‑up).
Serve as surgical first‑assist during operating procedures.
Education and Experience Required
Graduate of a physician assistant program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC‑PA).
2+ years experience in a physician assistant role.
2+ post‑graduation clinical experience, with one year of post‑graduate surgical residency training experience.
1+ cardiothoracic specialty specific experience.
Pre‑operative, intra‑operative, post‑operative surgical patient care experience.
Critical care experience.
