The Gifted & Talented Teacher will directly foster student interest and willingness to participate in challenging learning opportunities and support teacher understanding of giftedness across the district. The role facilitates systematic collaboration focused on high-ability learners, student engagement, and personalized learning. Responsibilities include direct instruction of GT-identified students, independent research, problem/project-based learning, SEL, supporting the GT identification process, assisting teachers in meeting needs of gifted learners in the regular classroom, planning extracurricular enrichment opportunities, and family support. Responsibilities

Direct Instruction: plan and implement units for identified GT students; implement talent development in general education; monitor data and help students set/achieve learning goals; apply gifted education strategies (problem/project-based learning, self-directed learning); evaluate GT performance; support SEL and metacognition; coordinate end-of-year celebration; coordinate participation in academic contests and extracurricular activities. Identification: schedule and conduct annual gifted assessments; collect and analyze data; lead campus-level identification committees; maintain student records related to gifted assessment and identification. Teacher & School Support: schedule pull-out GT services; plan whole-class and small-group enrichment; provide differentiated instruction; maintain communication to meet academic and social-emotional needs; support PD on high-ability learners; use data to advocate for differentiation. Family & Community Support: engage families of identified gifted students; communicate progress and assessment results; connect GT classroom with the community. Special Projects: complete special projects; support GT events region-wide; ensure compliance with GT policies; participate in meetings; undertake other duties as needed. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of gifted students’ academic and social-emotional needs; pedagogy for gifted learners; identification best practices; NJ State Regulations related to gifted learners; familiarity with NJSLS. Designing and facilitating student-centered, cross-curricular, project-based learning; use of instructional technology; ability to coordinate experiences beyond the classroom (guest speakers, field trips, contests, presentations). Ability to identify resources, multi-task, travel between locations, collaborate with stakeholders, communicate effectively, and advocate for gifted learners. Qualifications

Must Haves: Appropriate state teaching certification (completed or in process) and travel to various school locations At least 4 years teaching experience; experience collaborating with school leaders and coordinating school-wide initiatives preferred Experience with high-ability and gifted learners preferred but not required; professional development in meeting advanced learners’ needs preferred Certification Requirements: Hold a valid NJ teaching certification or meet GPA requirements as described GPA Requirements: Graduated after Sept 2016: GPA ≥ 3.0, or GPA 2.75–3.0 with Praxis exams passed at +10% (superscores) Graduated before Sept 2016: GPA ≥ 2.75 Compensation & Benefits

KIPP NJ offers a salary range of $65,000-$103,000+ with potential up to $7,000 in performance-based pay.
