Exempt Primary Function:
Under the direction of the school principal, the teacher is responsible for supporting the Diocese of Tucson in its mission to evangelize, catechize, and educate youth in a Catholic school environment. The teacher shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching both academically and behaviorally, in work and in personal life, aligned with the call described in Eph. 4:1. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Recognize and support the Catholic mission by speaking, acting, and instructing in accord with the Roman Catholic Church teachings. Model Gospel values by actively participating in a faith community and demonstrating a personal faith journey; lead by example in the teaching of Jesus. Help build the school’s faith community by participating in and helping plan religious and service activities. Lead and participate in classroom prayer daily. Plan lessons to achieve academic goals and align with the Catholic religious curriculum as articulated by the School. Demonstrate competence in teaching with current knowledge of both the academic and religious curricula; communicate effectively with students and organize classroom materials to maximize learning. Willingness to teach in an online environment as needed, including use of Google Classroom or other platforms. Develop and use evaluation methods aligned to curriculum objectives; provide consistent, clear assessment of student progress. Maintain a consistent disciplinary approach that promotes self-direction and positive self-image; set high standards for behavior and manage inappropriate behavior effectively. Maintain a functional and pleasant learning environment. Cooperate with school administration and work with all staff to promote positive relationships with students and parents; attend scheduled faculty trainings and meetings promptly. Be willing to participate in weekly Professional Learning Teams and work collaboratively. Demonstrate professional responsibility in enforcing school policies and regulations; maintain confidentiality and dress in accordance with school standards; follow directives from the principal. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical/Mental Requirements
The Teacher shall have coordination and manual dexterity, normal mental and visual capabilities, and the ability to lift as required in a normal office environment. Required Activities
Walking, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, talking, handling, hearing, carrying, and keyboarding. Basic Qualifications
A working knowledge of and commitment to fostering lay leadership in the Roman Catholic Church; if a baptized Catholic, must be a practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church. Excellent communications skills (written, oral, public speaking, and presentation). Strong interpersonal skills; self-starter, well-organized, and a team player. Available for evening and weekend work as necessary; reliable transportation. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficiency with Google Applications and related technology; ability to maintain confidentiality. Flexibility in assessing needs and adapting strategies in a ministerial environment. Complete criminal history and background check. Professional bearing and neat appearance; adherence to school dress code. Education And Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Theology or Religious Education Experience teaching at the High School level Covenants Of Employment
Salpointe Catholic High School is a Roman Catholic religious organization; all employees are expected to respect and conduct themselves according to the values, teachings, and morals of the Roman Catholic Church and by Arizona state law. Under the Zero Tolerance Policy, no one will be knowingly assigned or retained to serve in the school when found to have engaged in abuse of a minor or violated boundaries with minors.
